The client requested us to respond to comments from the city concerning the proposed width extension of an existing window. The city required that structural calculations be performed to ensure the modifications would comply with building codes and maintain the structural integrity of the wall. After conducting the necessary calculations, it was determined that the header beam above the window needed to be increased in size to support the additional load and address the city’s concerns. This adjustment ensures that the wall maintains its structural stability and complies with the city’s building requirements while allowing for the expanded window size.
